RCS is a utility library that consumes Perforce. RCS implements a lot of convenient functionality on top of Perforce. This functionality is in a separate library for several reasons:

  • Perforce aims to be a slim wrapper around p4api
  • RCS could potentially be integrated with other forms of revision control besides Perforce
